17th and Oliver Trail Head

The first trailhead is at 17th & Oliver, just south of WSU.

Several murals cover the Piatt plane crash, Dockum Sit-In, Dreams of Equality, Barry Sanders, Chester Lewis and Lynette Woodard.   In one area, the simple words sum it all up: “God Bless 67214”  The murals were painted by Charles Davis in 2013.

A metal sculpture carries the words, “Be Involved” and “Make History.”

As you walk  around, there are panels that display some important figures in Wichita’s history.  Athletic stars and community leaders are pictured with a short description. Please take a moment to browse these folks that helped shape Wichita.
