Viola Cemetery – Viola

500 N. Grice Street

Another small cemetery out in the middle of a field or as some people call it, right in the middle of God’s country.

There are about 410 people interred in this countryroad-side cemetery.

According to findagrave.com the oldest grave belongs to David W. Graham.  HIs birthdate is unknown but he died on March 6, 1879.

I was saddened by one particular stone.  It had the names and dates of three different children all belonging to the same couple.

I was also intrigued by a stone with a full size picture of the deceased.  I’ve seen pictures on graves before, but this one was large enough to be seen from across the cemetery.

Make sure you check out the other Sedgwick County Cemeteries we have visited so far.
