Freedom’s Stand

As we continue to view the artwork donated by Helen Galloway, let’s take a look at the magnificent Eagle sculpture, “Freedom’s Stand.”

The artist, Paul Tadlock, is a popular sculptor working in the Hill Country near New Braunfels, TX. According to his bio, he and his wife Georgia have three kids, six grandkids, and one great grandchild.

Helen told me the sculpture is, “just to honor the pleasure of living in America,” and according to an article by Fran Jabara, “reflects the freedom that Farris and Hannah Jabara sought after they left their homeland.”

Hannah came to America from Lebanon in 1914 at the age of 16.  In 1917, she married Farris Jabara.

While taking pictures I noticed someone had busted one of the talons off the Eagle since my last visit.

Helen said, it’s not just about living in America, but living in Wichita adding, “I love this town; I love everything about it.”

Check out some of Wichita’s other public arts. I like to call it, How Great Our Art.
