Southlakes Park

#89 Southlakes Park – 2211 W 47th St S

Background: Sections of this park were bought between 1990 and 1992. The park was designed as a sports complex with both soccer and softball fields.

According to the city, “the park includes three fishing ponds, with extremely clear water, and stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish and black crappie.”

What we did: The bad news, we tried to get to the soccer fields but all access points were locked. The good news, as we started to drive away, Jeremy spotted the other part of the park.

No offense to the soccer fans, but this part of the park is the best part. A sizable lake is the center point of this property. A paved sidewalk wraps completely around the lake. We spotted several people fishing and even a canoe out on the lake. It was a nice day, and we enjoyed walking in the warmth of the sun.

He was a Wichita real estate tycoon, she was a leader in local arts.. their park next.
