Kechi Township Cemetery

900 East 69th Street North

About 6,000 people are interred here, there are no famous folks among the graves.

The earliest reference I could find to the cemetery was in “The Wichita Star.” On March 27, 1903, a group of women organized by Mrs. Lemmon created the Kechi Township Cemetery association.

The oldest grave according to findagrave.com belongs to Ruth A. Guest.  Ruth was born in 1859 in Ashtabula County, Ohio. She died a few years later, on August 18, 1862, in Kechi.

Her parents John and Rovilla Guest had 14 children. Eight of the children died before the age of five.
