The statue can be found in front of the county courthouse.

Garnett started in 1857 and is named after one of the town’s early supporters, W.A. Garnett.  Garnett is also the county seat for Anderson County.

There must be something in the water.  The city raised two men that would become governors of the Sunflower State.   The first governor to be born in Kansas was Arthur Capper who led the state from 1915 to 1919.  The Republican went on to serve Kansas as a Senator in D.C. from 1919 to 1949.  The other governor was Sam Brownback, a Republican that served in the role from 2011 to 2018.  He also served as a state representative and senator.
