I met Larry Flynt

When I worked in L.A., “Your Big Break” was shot in the same studio Johnny Carson hosted the Tonight Show from.  What an amazing and historic place.  It’s a cliché, but if those walls could talk…

Anyway, you never know who you might see walking in the halls.  I was heading from our offices to the studio with our show’s producer.  The incredibly cool Larry Klein.  We ran into Hustler Magazine founder Larry Flynt.  Flynt was in his gold wheelchair, looking exactly like he had for years.  Larry K. greeted him and they chatted for a minute.  Then I was introduced to the icon.

Let me say here, like what he did or not, he was a self made man, who fought a huge fight for freedom of speech taking his case all the way to the Supreme Court.

I shook Larry’s hand and told him how cool it was to meet him and that we studied his case in my media law class. He seemed genuinely proud that the case had that big of an impact. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Larry K., making an inappropriate gesture, and he was really going for it. I had such a hard time not laughing at it. I thanked Mr. Flynt again and headed towards the studio.

Larry K. caught up with me a moment later laughing his ass off.  He thought it was hilarious.  It was and it is such a great story to share now that Mr. Flynt is gone.
